Giants lose reliever Peguero, promote Ramos and Kennedy

San Francisco placed reliever Joel Peguero on the 60‑day injured list Monday after a left‑hamstring strain forced him out of the 19‑6 win over Colorado. The 29‑year‑old had posted a 2.38 ERA in 11 appearances before exiting in the eighth inning while chasing Tyler Freeman’s infield single. Manager Tony Vitello said the team must get past the injury before Peguero can contribute again.

The move opened a roster spot that the Giants filled by selecting right‑hander Wilkin Ramos and infielder Buddy Kennedy from Triple‑A Sacramento. Ramos, 25, earned his first major‑league call‑up after posting a 2.33 ERA and striking out 27 batters in 27 innings for Sacramento. Kennedy, 27, carries a .321 average, .424 OBP and eight homers from his recent minor‑league stint.

San Francisco also designated catcher Logan Porter for assignment and optioned rookie catcher Jesus Rodriguez to Sacramento, leaving the big‑league roster thin at the back end. Porter appeared in only one game this season, while Rodriguez has a .231 average in 14 big‑league contests. The bullpen now relies on Ramos to fill Peguero’s void as the Giants chase a postseason berth.
