Giants Lose Two Outfielders To Injuries

The San Francisco Giants placed outfielders Harrison Bader and Jared Oliva on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Bader suffers from a left hamstring strain, while Oliva has a left wrist hamate fracture. Both injuries create immediate roster concerns for the team. The Giants recalled outfielders Will Brennan and Drew Gilbert from Triple-A Sacramento to address the vacancies.

Harrison Bader, who signed a $20.5 million, two-year contract as a free agent, has been hampered by lower body issues that have lingered since spring training. The 31-year-old outfielder hit just .115 with a double and homer in 52 at-bats before his placement, which was retroactive to Sunday. Manager Tony Vitello acknowledged the frustration, noting Bader's lower half "has never really been healthy."

Jared Oliva, 30, has one hit in seven at-bats since earning a backup outfield spot during spring training. His injury left Vitello frustrated, as Oliva had limited opportunities to play. The Giants now face a depleted outfield situation with Bader and Oliva sidelined, creating immediate challenges for their lineup depth.
