Reliever Evan Phillips is back with the Los Angeles Dodgers, 13 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The 31-year-old right-hander spent the last month at Triple-A Oklahoma City, posting a 1.80 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 10 innings over 12 games. Phillips, who had surgery in May 2025, expressed readiness for his return, crediting his family and teammates for support during his rehabilitation.

Phillips will not immediately reclaim the closer role. Tanner Scott has been filling in for the injured Edwin Díaz. Phillips is expected to work in a middle-relief capacity as he builds arm strength, with the potential for a larger role in the postseason. The Dodgers, leading the NL West, are aiming for a third straight World Series title.

During his minor league stint, Phillips focused on refining his pitching mechanics and developing his changeup before shifting to competitive execution. In corresponding moves, the Dodgers optioned Paul Gervase to Triple-A, released Jake Eder, added pitcher Carlos Duran to the 40-man roster, and designated Chuckie Robinson for assignment. Duran, a 24-year-old right-hander, had a 3.86 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 35 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
