Friedman downplayed the injuries, noting Ohtani has been throwing plyometric balls and that the team will “keep the arm going.” The Dodgers have also activated closer Edwin Diaz and brought back super‑utilitytrend Enrique Hernandez; Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow are recovering and may return next week.

The organization remains ready to pursue Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. While the Tigers’ record has slipped, interest from other contenders has kept Skubal on the trade radar. Friedman’s track record—trades for Yu Darvish, Manny Machado, Max Scherzer, and Trea Turner—shows the Dodgers are aggressive at the trade deadline, but he prefers to keep Skubal if possible to avoid giving up premium prospects.

Beyond Ohtani, the Dodgers have a solid rotation: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Justin Wrobleski (2.88 ERA), Roki Sasaki, and Emmet Sheehan. Friedman remains confident Ohtani will return “relatively soon.”
