PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks signed South Korean two-way prospect Jun-Sang Eom to an international deal worth a $1.5 million signing bonus, the team announced Tuesday. The 18-year-old shortstop and right-handed pitcher was at Chase Field before Arizona's game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Eom starred as the starting shortstop for the 2025 WBSC South Korea U-18 national team at just 17, earning recognition as one of the 'Big 3' high school prospects for the 2026 Korea Baseball Organization rookie draft. His dual-threat ability impressed scouts enough for the Diamondbacks to commit substantial bonus money.

Three other Korean players are currently in the major leagues: Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee, Braves infielder Ha-Seong Kim and Dodgers infielder Hyeseong Kim. Eom joins an expanding pipeline of talent moving from South Korea to MLB.

With his combination of positional skills and pitching ability, the Arizona Diamondbacks gain a versatile prospect who could accelerate quickly through their farm system.
