Corey Seager's Historic 0-for-27 Skid: What's Wrong with Rangers Star?

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is mired in a historic slump, going 0-for-27 at the plate over his last seven games. The two-time World Series MVP went hitless in Wednesday's 6-5 comeback win over Arizona, striking out twice in four at-bats. Seager's .179 batting average ranks 167th among qualified MLB hitters, with 50 strikeouts accounting for 27.5% of his plate appearances.

Despite the struggles, the 32-year-old insists he feels physically fine and will continue working through the drought. In the fifth year of his $325 million contract, Seager has managed just 28 hits and seven home runs. His last hit came on May 6 against the Yankees, and he's now 6-for-61 (.098) with 23 strikeouts over his past 16 games.

Manager Skip Schumaker remains supportive, emphasizing that Seager's body and mind are right for playing time. The skipper plans to give Seager a rest day around an upcoming off-day, similar to how the team handled slumping first baseman Jake Burger. Historically, Seager has bounced back from slow starts, hitting .194 through 10 games last season before finishing at .271.

This represents uncharted territory for the former .285 career hitter, who has never finished a season below .200. The Rangers need their franchise shortstop to break out soon, as the team sits in a competitive AL West race where every game matters.
