Right-hander Aaron Civale and the Oakland Athletics have agreed to a one-year, $6 million contract, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. The 30-year-old veteran adds experienced pitching to an A's roster aiming for postseason contention in 2026. Civale can earn an additional $1.5 million through incentives.

Last season, Civale pitched for three teams -- the Brewers, White Sox, and Cubs -- posting a 4-9 record with a 4.85 ERA. After 135 career starts since 2017, he transitioned to relief work late in the season, striking out 14 batters in 13 innings while posting a 2.08 ERA for Chicago. His versatility as both starter and reliever adds depth to Oakland's pitching staff.

Civale's career record stands at 43-44 with a 4.14 ERA in 140 games. The A's pitchers and catchers begin spring training workouts Wednesday, with the full squad reporting Monday. Oakland finished 76-86 in 2025, marking their fourth consecutive losing season as they prepare for their final year in West Sacramento before moving to Las Vegas in 2028.
