The St. Louis Cardinals have signed infielder Ramón Urías to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2027, the team announced Saturday. The 31-year-old brings versatility to St. Louis after splitting last season between the Baltimore Orioles and Houston Astros, where he hit .241 with 11 homers and 44 RBI.

Urías enjoyed his best season in 2022, blasting 16 home runs and winning a Gold Glove at third base. While primarily a third baseman, he has experience across the infield at second base, shortstop, and first base. His defensive flexibility addresses a need for the Cardinals, who designated right-handed pitcher Zak Kent for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.

This move signals the Cardinals' intent to strengthen their infield depth as they prepare for the 2026 season. Urías' ability to play multiple positions while providing solid offensive production makes him a valuable addition to the St. Louis roster.
