The Miami Dolphins are signing free agent wide receiver Tutu Atwell to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Atwell, a 26-year-old former second-round pick from the Los Angeles Rams, is returning to his hometown of Miami for this new opportunity.

Atwell spent five seasons with the Rams after being drafted in 2021. His production declined significantly last season, with just six catches for 192 yards and one touchdown in a contract year. The Rams' offensive shift toward using more 13 personnel (three tight ends) rather than 11 personnel (three wide receivers) limited his playing time.

Despite the recent struggles, Atwell has shown big-play ability throughout his career. His 88-yard touchdown catch against the Indianapolis Colts last season demonstrated his speed and potential impact. In 64 regular-season games with the Rams, Atwell accumulated 105 receptions for 1,535 yards and five touchdowns. The Dolphins are betting on his hometown connection and untapped potential as they reshape their receiving corps.
