The St. Louis Cardinals made a roster adjustment Friday, reinstating right-hander Ryne Stanek from the paternity list. Stanek, in his 10th season, returns to the team with a 5.12 ERA over 31⅔ innings in 35 appearances this year. His return comes as the Cardinals optioned fellow righty Gordon Graceffo to Triple-A Memphis.

Graceffo, 26, heads to Memphis after a solid relief stint, posting a 6-1 record with a 3.35 ERA across 40⅓ innings in 35 outings. He secured his sixth win Thursday with a scoreless frame before the Cardinals mounted a seven-run comeback in the seventh inning. Stanek's return adds a veteran arm to the bullpen as the team prepares for Friday's game against the Chicago Cubs.

Meanwhile, pitcher Dustin May is being evaluated after exiting Thursday's victory over the Braves with a right-ankle contusion. May was struck by a line drive in the first inning, surrendering five runs in just two outs before departing. The team awaits word on the severity of his injury and potential time missed. The Cardinals secured an 11-5 win despite May's early exit.
