Byron Buxton's grand slam ignited a 10‑run fifth as the Minnesota Twins demolished the Arizona Diamondbacks 16‑8 on Saturday night in Phoenix. The blast gave Buxton his 24th homer of the season, tying Yordan Alvarez for the AL lead and marking his third career grand slam. Minnesota had already built a 6‑0 lead in the fourth.

The lineup from spots six to nine produced 13 of Minnesota's 20 hits. Brooks Lee collected four, falling just short of a cycle, while Victor Caratini, Luke Keaschall and Ryan Kreidler each added three. In the fifth, Lee, Caratini, Keaschall and Kreidler each went 2‑for‑2, and Kreidler’s triple drove in the final two runs to seal a 16‑0 inning.

Arizona starter Zac Gallen exited after allowing the first three hits of the inning, ending with nine runs on 12 hits in 4⅔ innings. Reliever Yilber Diaz surrendered seven more runs, including Buxton’s blast, before being pulled. Minnesota’s Taj Bradley limited the Diamondbacks to two runs over five innings, earning his sixth win. The Twins now sit five of their last six, tightening their hold on the AL Central race.
