The Milwaukee Brewers have signed free agent right-hander Bryse Wilson, adding a veteran arm to their depleted pitching staff. Wilson joins the NL Central leaders after being released by the Chicago Cubs earlier this week. He pitched briefly for Philadelphia and the Cubs this season, allowing seven runs in 9 1/3 innings across two relief appearances.

Wilson, 28, has played for six MLB teams in his nine-year career, including a prior two-year stint with the Brewers from 2023-24. The move comes as Milwaukee currently has 11 pitchers on the injured list. "As soon as they made an offer, I signed and didn't talk with other teams," Wilson stated. "I've had success here. It's the right fit."

To make roster space, the Brewers optioned right-hander Drew Rom to Triple-A Nashville and designated righty Easton McGee for assignment. Left-handed reliever Rob Zastryzny was also sent to Nashville to begin a rehab assignment for a left upper lat strain sustained on May 31. The additions and adjustments signal Milwaukee's desperation to bolster its rotation and bullpen for the stretch run.
