Brewers' Harrison Exits Cactus League Start With Blister

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Kyle Harrison left his Cactus League start Wednesday after developing a blister on his left index finger. The 24-year-old departed after allowing four runs -- one earned -- over 2 2/3 innings against the Los Angeles Angels. Harrison has been competing for a spot in Milwaukee's starting rotation since arriving from the Boston Red Sox in a February trade.

Harrison came to the Brewers along with left-handed pitcher Shane Drohan and infielder David Hamilton in exchange for third baseman Caleb Durbin, infielders Andruw Monasterio and Anthony Seigler, and a competitive balance pick. The trade was part of a larger deal that initially sent Rafael Devers to San Francisco before the Red Sox reacquired him.

The blister is an unfortunate setback for Harrison, who went 1-1 with a 4.04 ERA in 11 combined appearances last season with the Red Sox and San Francisco Giants. Spring training injuries to pitching prospects often raise concerns about their readiness for the regular season, though blisters are generally considered minor ailments that heal quickly with proper treatment.
