Adley Rutschman on IL for Wrist Inflammation

Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday due to left wrist inflammation, marking his third IL stint this season. He missed Sunday's victory over the Houston Astros, extending the Orioles' win streak to seven games, the second-longest active streak in MLB. Manager Craig Albernaz stated the decision was made to address the persistent issue and ensure Rutschman's full recovery, noting the demanding nature of the catching position and switch-hitting on the left wrist.

Meanwhile, rookie catcher Samuel Basallo is considered day-to-day with right shoulder discomfort. Veteran catcher Chadwick Tromp was recalled from the minors to fill Rutschman's roster spot, with Sam Huff starting at catcher on Monday. Rutschman, an American League All-Star, is batting .251 with eight home runs and 47 RBIs in 67 games this season. He previously experienced IL stints in April for ankle inflammation and in June for a concussion.
