WNBPA executive director Terri Carmichael Jackson confirmed progress continues in collective bargaining negotiations with the WNBA, though she acknowledged a delay to the 2026 season remains possible as talks enter their seventh day. Despite league deadlines, both sides recognize these are substantial negotiations requiring flexibility.

For the first time this week, WNBPA counsel Deb Willig reported progress toward a "transformational" deal, with Jackson noting the players remain committed to fighting for the best agreement. WNBPA president Nneka Ogwumike identified revenue share and housing as the primary issues still needing resolution.

The timeline presents challenges, with training camp scheduled to begin April 19 and the regular season set for May 8. Before that, the league must conduct a college draft, expansion draft, and manage free agency for over 100 players. Commissioner Cathy Engelbert expressed determination to complete negotiations quickly, though potential impacts to the schedule remain unclear.
