Hall of Famers Teresa Weatherspoon and Cynthia Cooper served as general managers for the 2026 WNBA All-Star draft, constructing their respective teams. Cooper's "Team Coop" secured the top pick via coin flip, selecting Paige Bueckers, who received the most fan votes. Weatherspoon's "Team Spoon" drafted Caitlin Clark, who earned the second-most fan votes.

Weatherspoon focused on creating a well-balanced team with playmakers, scorers, rebounders, and defenders, selecting MVP A'ja Wilson as her first starter. Cooper prioritized scorers and a fast-paced game, with Breanna Stewart as her first pick. The All-Star Game is scheduled for July 25 at the United Center in Chicago.

The event also features the WNBA Shooting Stars event and 3-point contest on July 24 at Wintrust Arena. The game's prize pool of $100,000 will benefit Chicago-based girls' sports organizations, with the winning team's partner receiving $70,000. Aces coach Becky Hammon will coach "Team Coop," and Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve will lead "Team Spoon."
