ESPN released its 2026 top‑10 NFL player rankings after 11 days of voting. As teams rise and fall, so do players, and each position saw at least one player slide off last year’s list because of performance, injury or tougher competition.

Voters submitted ballots, and ESPN staff compiled results using top‑10 votes, composite averages, interviews, research and film study led by analyst Matt Bowen.

Running back Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers, fell to #6 after his 2024 Pro Bowl form slipped. He averaged 4.0 yards per carry (down from 4.4) and his yards after contact dropped from third in the NFL to 17th. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson, Chicago Bears, slipped to #8 after missing 10 games in 2025. Edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, Baltimore Ravens, fell to #6 after injuries, and defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike, Baltimore, made Pro Bowls but played only two games in 2025. Offensive tackle Rashawn Slater, Los Angeles Chargers, dropped to #6 after a season‑long injury.

The rankings reflect current performance delecting career longevity. Players like Jacobs, Johnson, Hendrickson, Madubuike and Slater will need to rebound to regain their former standing.
