Michael Thorbjornsen captured his first PGA Tour victory with a 7-under 63 in the final Rocket Classic, finishing at 18-under to win by two shots over Xander Schauffele. The 24-year-old sealed his spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs by rolling into the Motor City No. 69 in the standings, securing one of the top 70 spots advancing to the postseason. Thorbjornsen surged into the lead at the demanding 14th hole during a six-hole stretch with three birdies, closing with a clutch curling putt. 'Perfect pace, perfect read,' he said after draining a 26-foot birdie putt on his final hole.

Schauffele (65) finished second, while Davis Riley (70) trailed by one stroke in third after losing the lead with four bogeys. The tournament featured the strongest field yet, with rain-delayed conditions creating challenging winds. PGA Tour's new 2028 model will split into two tiers, and Rocket Mortgage opted not to continue hosting the event at $15 million annually, though discussions about Michigan hosting future tournaments remain open.
