Teagan Kavan struck out five in the final two innings and earned Most Outstanding Player honors as Texas defeated Texas Tech 4-1 Thursday night in Oklahoma City to claim their second straight Women's College World Series championship. Kavan became the first pitcher with two shutouts and two saves in one WCWS, capping a dominant performance that included her fifth save of the season.

Kayden Henry homered off Red Raiders ace NiJaree Canady to lead off the seventh inning, while Leighann Goode added an RBI single. Texas trailed 1-0 through four innings before a bases-loaded throwing error by Hailey Toney in the fifth allowed two unearned runs to score. Citlaly Gutierrez (11-3) delivered 4 1/3 innings of one-run ball before freshman Hannah Davis and Kavan finished the job.

Canady (29-7) went the distance for Texas Tech, allowing four runs on eight hits in her final collegiate game. Lauren Allred provided the Red Raiders' only run with an RBI single in the third. Second-year coach Gerry Glasgo guided Texas Tech to their second WCWS appearance, while Mike White secured his second title in eight seasons leading the Longhorns.

The victory marked Texas's second consecutive championship, completing a three-game series rubber match after defeating Texas Tech 7-3 in Wednesday's opener. This back-to-back title run establishes Texas as the current dynasty in women's college softball.
