Stephen Daley returns to Indiana football

Indiana Hoosiers defensive end Stephen Daley has made a surprise return to the practice field for the defending national champions. This comes after a U.S. District Court judge in Colorado ruled that high school players from the 2022 graduating class could play their fifth college season.

Daley, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in December, will be limited in early workouts. Coach Curt Cignetti expressed optimism about Daley's quick return to full speed, noting his prior NFL-level training. Daley was a key player in Indiana's undefeated season, recording 5½ sacks and leading the Big Ten with 19 tackles for loss.

Daley's return bolsters an already strong defensive line. This follows a similar situation last year when safety Louis Moore was allowed to play due to a legal ruling. Daley, who was not drafted into the NFL, now has the opportunity to play again for Indiana, though the NCAA intends to appeal the decision.
