Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers has voiced concerns regarding the absence of Black women head coaches in the WNBA, advocating for equal opportunities in coaching roles. Bueckers emphasized that Black women, who have been foundational to the league's history, deserve the same chances as any other candidate.

"I think Black women -- specifically, I grew up with a lot of prominent Black women in my life that were very important to me in how I was raised and how I grew up, being my stepmom, my AAU coach," said Bueckers, who is white. "So I understand how amazing they are and how they should get the same equal opportunity as a white woman, as a white man to be an important piece of this league."

Currently, there are no Black women serving as head coaches in the WNBA. The last Black woman to hold such a position was Noelle Quinn, who coached the Seattle Storm for several seasons. Quinn has previously stated her belief that this racial disparity is intentional. Bueckers, a 24-year-old standout averaging 20.7 points and 6.3 assists this season, will be an All-Star starter.
