Olivia Miles erupted for 28 points as the Minnesota Lynx edged the Golden State Valkyries 87‑84 on Thursday. The rookie drilled eight 3‑pointers, converting 8 of 11 from deep in the second half, added seven assists and four rebounds, and lifted her averages to 17.0 points, 6.3 assists and 4.9 rebounds. The feat shattered the rookie three‑point record set by Caitlin Clark and Crystal Robinson.

The previous Lynx rookie high was six, achieved four times, most recently by Maya Moore in 2011. Miles also matched veteran guard Kayla McBride’s franchise record of eight threes. After a sluggish start—2‑of‑18 from three in her first nine games—coach Cheryl Reeve praised the sudden surge, significantly, noting the team finally gave her the green light.

Through ten games Miles has scored or assisted on 317 points, second only to Dallas’ Paige Bueckers. Teammate Kayla McBride praised her two‑way impact, and the Lynx sit atop the Western Conference with an 8‑2 record, giving the team a reliable perimeter weapon as they chase a top seed. Miles’ record night cements her as the Lynx’s offensive catalyst this season.
