Ole Miss is seeking close to $1 million in penalties from two former football players who signed revenue sharing contracts to return to the Rebels before joining former coach Lane Kiffin at LSU.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in the Circuit Court of Lafayette County in Oxford, Mississippi, seeks $550,000 from former defensive end Princewill Umanmielen and $400,000 from former guard Devin Harper, plus attorneys’ fees and court costs.

Both players signed agreements on Jan. 3 and Jan. 6, respectively, and entered the transfer portal on Jan. 20 and Jan. 14, following which they signed with LSU on Jan. 21 and Jan. 16. The contracts included penalties within a 90‑day window, and the university requested payment on Jan. 16 and Jan. 22, but neither player responded.

The university said it values its student‑athletes and is committed to honoring obligations, and it attempted to resolve the matter amicably before filing. Kiffin guided Ole Miss to a 55‑19 record over six seasons before moving to LSU.
