Nebraska edged Arkansas 5‑3 in the opening round of the Women’s College World Series after Ava Kuszak belted a 10‑inning walk‑off home run. The Cornhuskers’ 27‑game winning streak now stands as the nation’s longest active run. The game took place Thursday night at Norman against a thrilling crowd of spectators today.

Jordy Frahm dominated on the mound, pitching a career‑high 10 innings, striking out nine and throwing 133 pitches. Despite an RBI single by Ella McDowell in the eighth, Frahm retired eight of the next nine Arkansas hitters. Her persistence kept the Huskers in a tight lead through the ninth inning tonight.

Coach Rhonda Revelle praised her team’s resilience, noting the battle was hard‑fought and that nobody gave an inch. Nebraska’s win snapped a 24‑year drought of WCWS victories and ended five consecutive extra‑inning losses. The Huskers will now confront top‑seeded Alabama in the championship bracket after a decisive victory.

Arkansas, seeded fifth, will face No. 8 seed UCLA in an elimination game Friday, while the Razorbacks’ first WCWS appearance is over. The walk‑off homer marks the first 10th‑inning or later blast at the series since 2019. Nebraska’s triumph signals a return to national prominence for the team ahead of the tournament.
