The New York Mets have acquired center fielder Luis Robert Jr. from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for infielder Luisangel Acuna and right-hander Truman Pauley. The deal bolsters New York's outfield depth as they aim to return to contention in 2026.

Robert, 28, struggled offensively last season, hitting just .223, but still showed value with 14 home runs and a career-high 33 stolen bases. The former All-Star and Gold Glove winner brings speed and defensive reliability to a Mets team that recently signed shortstop Bo Bichette.

Acuna, 23, spent parts of two seasons with the Mets, batting .234 with 16 steals in 95 games. Pauley, 22, was a 12th-round pick in the 2025 draft. The trade signals a rebuild move for Chicago while giving New York a high-upside outfield option.

With spring training approaching, the Mets now have upgraded both infield and outfield talent. Fans will watch how quickly Robert integrates into the lineup and if his power stroke returns.
