The New York Liberty's star trio of Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones declined to offer a definitive vote of confidence in head coach Chris DeMarco following the team's playoff exit. Each player stated that decisions regarding DeMarco's future with the organization are 'not our decision,' emphasizing that such matters fall under the purview of team management and ownership. Stewart, Ionescu and Jones, who form the Liberty's core trio, acknowledged the disappointment of the season's outcome while redirecting questions about coaching stability to the franchise's leadership.
Their comments came after the Liberty were eliminated in the WNBA semifinals, falling short of their championship aspirations despite possessing one of the league's most talented rosters. The players' unified stance reflects a deliberate effort to avoid internal controversy while maintaining focus on accountability and team unity moving forward.
