Katherine Legge aims for Indy 500‑Coca Cola 600 double

British racer Katherine Legge announced she will attempt the Indy–NASCAR double, targeting the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca‑Cola 600 on May 24. Represented by BRANDed Management, she will drive A.J. Foyt Motorsports’ No. 11 entry at Indy and the No. 78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports in Charlotte. At 45, Legge seeks to become the first woman to finish both 500‑mile events in a single day.

Legge returns for her fifth Indy 500, having posted a career‑best 22nd place in 2012 and a 29th finish last year. Over the past two seasons she added eight NASCAR Cup starts, most recently a 35th‑place effort at Watkins Glen. The double demands rare stamina; only five drivers have ever tackled both races since 1994, with Tony Stewart achieving a top‑six finish in each in 2001.

Last attempts at the double have stumbled: Kyle Larson missed the 2024 Coca‑Cola 600 after rain delayed Indy, then wrecked out of both events in 2025. NASCAR’s 2025 playoff‑waiver rule change now makes it harder for full‑time Cup drivers to dip into Indy if they fall short in Charlotte. Legge’s bid therefore tests both endurance and the sport’s evolving scheduling constraints.
