Golden Tempo seized the 158th Belmont Stakes Saturday at Saratoga, completing the Triple Crown leg after his Kentucky Derby win. Jockey Jose Ortiz rode the 6‑1 longshot to a 2:03.49 finish, holding off Commandment with Renegade third. The win paid $14 to win, $7.32 to place and $3.88 to show.

Trainer Cherie DeVaux, the first woman to win a Derby and now the first to capture multiple Triple Crown races, lauded the colt’s versatility after a slower pace than at Churchill Downs. A Saratoga native, DeVaux highlighted the significance of the Belmont’s final run at the venue before returning to Belmont Park. She follows Jena Antonucci, who trained Arcangelo to the 2023 Belmont victory.

Commandment earned $7.02 to show and $4.08 to place, while Derby runner‑up Renegade collected $2.52 to place, underscoring Golden Tempo’s dominance over a nine‑horse field. The triumph cements the colt as the season’s top three‑year‑old, gives DeVaux a historic double, and solidifies his candidacy for Horse of the Year honors.
