Florida basketball coach Todd Golden signed a one-year contract extension earlier this month, increasing the total value of his deal to $49.5 million and averaging $8.25 million annually through the 2031-32 season. The 40-year-old coach's salary for next season jumps from $6 million to $7.5 million, making him the second-highest-paid coach in the Southeastern Conference behind only Kansas' Bill Self, UConn's Dan Hurley, and Arkansas' John Calipari. New North Carolina coach Michael Malone also will make $7.5 million this season.

Golden's deal is nearly fully guaranteed, with Florida owing 85% of the remaining value if fired without cause. His buyout to leave Gainesville starts at $16 million next season and drops annually to $1 million by 2031-32, though his NBA buyout is significantly lower, starting at $3 million. The contract includes a $500,000 annual longevity incentive, $100,000 expense account, and 30 hours of free jet usage.

Golden has compiled a 103-41 record in four seasons, including a 36-4 mark in 2024-25 en route to the program's third national title. The Gators return nearly 82% of their scoring, led by Rueben Chinyelu, Alex Condon, and Thomas Haugh. This marks Golden's third raise in three years, surpassing football coach Jon Sumrall as the highest-paid coach on campus.
