Indiana has finalized a contract extension for national championship coach Curt Cignetti that boosts his average annual salary to $13.2 million through 2033. The increase from $11.6 million stems from a "good market faith review" clause triggered when the Hoosiers reached the College Football Playoff semifinal.

Cignetti's new compensation ranks him third among active head coaches, joining Georgia's Kirby Smart and LSU's Lane Kiffin as the only coaches earning at least $13 million annually. This marks the third revision to his contract in just two seasons since he arrived with a six-year, $27 million deal in late 2023.

The 27-2 record and first national title in school history prompted Indiana to also award multiyear extensions to coordinators Mike Shanahan and Bryant Haines. Athletic director Scott Dolson emphasized the program's commitment to maintaining its staff. Despite previously stating plans to retire at Indiana, Cignetti is now tied to a decade-long deal worth over $130 million total.
