Brandon Aiyuk has escalated his trade request from the San Francisco 49ers, publicly declaring his preference for the Washington Commanders on social media. The wide receiver shouted "Go Commanders!" in an Instagram Story video, further fueling speculation about his desired destination while wearing a Commanders hat and referencing Jayden Daniels, his former Arizona State teammate.

The 49ers have been stuck in limbo with Brandon Aiyuk since January, when general manager John Lynch stated it was "safe to say" the player had finished with the team. Aiyuk's relationship with San Francisco deteriorated after the 49ers voided $51 million in guaranteed contract money in December 2024 due to his absence from rehab sessions for knee injuries. He was subsequently placed on the reserve/left team list and has not reported to the facility.

Before his injury-plagued 2024 season, Aiyuk had posted career-high numbers in 2023 with 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns, earning second-team All-Pro honors. The 49ers signed him to a $120 million extension in August 2024, but the partnership soured quickly. Teammates like George Kittle acknowledged Aiyuk's talent remains intact despite the off-field turmoil.

Washington fans now dream of pairing Jayden Daniels with a proven receiver like Aiyuk, who could immediately upgrade their passing attack. The Commanders are among five teams Aiyuk follows on Instagram, suggesting mutual interest as the veteran seeks to revive his season in the nation's capital.
