Alabama basketball center Charles Bediako's attempt to return to college basketball has been blocked by a circuit court judge. The 7-foot player had filed a motion for a preliminary injunction to regain eligibility after spending three seasons in the NBA G League, but Judge Daniel Pruet ruled Bediako failed to demonstrate entitlement to the requested relief.

Bediako, who had been playing under a temporary restraining order, averaged 10 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in five games for the Crimson Tide. His eligibility case centered on his decision to enter the 2023 NBA draft after two seasons at Alabama, where he averaged 6.6 points and 5.2 rebounds. The NCAA argued Bediako had already turned professional, making him ineligible for college competition.

NCAA president Charlie Baker praised the ruling, stating it upholds the principle that college sports are for students, not professionals seeking to return. Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats confirmed Bediako will remain on scholarship to complete his degree. The decision leaves Alabama (16-7, 6-4 SEC) to move forward without the experienced big man as they prepare for their Tuesday matchup against Mississippi. The ruling represents a significant victory for the NCAA's stance on maintaining amateurism standards in college athletics.
