Al Riveron has announced his departure as the Atlantic Coast Conference's supervisor of officials after a four-year tenure. The ACC confirmed Wednesday that a nationwide search for his successor is underway, with the upcoming football season beginning next month.

Riveron, who spent over three decades in officiating administration across the NFL and college football, joined the ACC in 2022. During his time, the ACC pioneered real-time discussions between referees, replay officials, and league operations for select games, an initiative that received positive feedback and will continue. The Big 12 Conference plans to implement a similar system this year.

ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips commended Riveron for his "transparency and collaborative approach," stating it "elevated our program." Riveron previously served as an NFL rules analyst and held the position of senior vice president of officiating from 2017-20. While he did not cite a specific reason for his departure, Riveron expressed gratitude for working with dedicated professionals in officiating.
