The A's fear first baseman Nick Kurtz could miss the rest of the season due to a right thumb injury. The Rockies placed third baseman Kyle Karros on the seven-day concussion IL. Bryce Harper is battling left knee soreness after shifting back to right field for the first time in four years. On the transaction wire, the Blue Jays claimed veteran reliever Paul Sewald after he was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks.

Pitching Returns & Debuts

Blake Snell showed "electric stuff" in his return to the Dodgers, striking out 10 batters over six innings after three months sidelined with loose bodies in his left elbow. Jackson Kent was called up from Triple-A and will make his MLB debut Wednesday for Washington against the Cubs. Paul Skenes was lifted after just 65 pitches in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins due to another fastball velocity drop, and he declined to comment on his health.
