MLB Off-Field Developments
The Guardians shifted pitchers espn.com Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz onto unpaid non-disciplinary leave Friday as legal proceedings loom, following an agreement stemming from an alleged pitch-rigging investigation. Separately, the Minnesota Twins released espn.com veteran right-hander Liam Hendriks from his minor league contract, concluding his brief affiliation with the club. Furthermore, the family of former Yankee espn.com Brett Gardner filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a Costa Rican resort after their 14-year-old son, Miller, died from carbon monoxide poisoning while vacationing there.
