The Boston Red Sox completed a four-game sweep of their rivals, the New York Yankees, in dramatic fashion. After blowing a two-run lead in the ninth inning, the Red Sox rallied for three runs in the tenth, capped by Jarren Duran’s walk-off single to secure the victory. The series finale, originally slated for "Sunday Night Baseball," was preempted by NBC in favor of the Travelers Championship golf tournament, which experienced significant delays due to rain.

INJURY BUG BITES

Several contenders are grappling with significant injuries. The Texas Rangers have placed outfielder Wyatt Langford on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring, recalling Evan Carter from the IL in a corresponding move. Meanwhile, American League batting leader Yandy Díaz of the Tampa Bay Rays was removed from Sunday's game with a strained shoulder, a significant blow to his team's offensive prowess. The Cincinnati Reds also saw Eugenio Suárez exit their loss after being hit by a pitch, with CT scans pending to assess the severity of his left-hand injury. In Baltimore, pitcher Chris Bassitt underwent back surgery and is not expected back until 2026.

Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies etched his name in franchise history, becoming the first major leaguer to reach 30 home runs this season and doing so in a club-record number of games. His milestone blast was part of the Phillies' offensive surge. Not to be outdone, Colorado Rockies designated hitter Hunter Goodman had a career day Saturday, launching three home runs and driving in five runs during an 8-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
