Тренер женской сборной США Эмма Хайес подчеркнула необходимость коллективных усилий для победы над Испанией. Две команды, ranking first and second globally, will face off at Audi Field in Washington, D. C., and in Chester, Pennsylvania. Hayes described the matches as 'essential' preparation for the 2027 World Cup, noting Spain's clear identity and superior development system.
The U.S. will be without defender Naomi Girma and midfielder Sam Coffey due to injuries, while Spain will miss Aitana Bonmatí, Clàudia Pina, and Mapi León. Hayes praised Spain's pressing style and highlighted the importance of handling pressure and transitioning effectively. Trinity Rodman noted the challenge of breaking Spain's press and getting the ball to the forward line.
The matches mark the first FIFA international break in four months and serve as a benchmark for both teams ahead of future tournaments.
