NFC Team Moves & Option Decisions
The Seattle Seahawks secured key young talent by exercising the crucial fifth-year options for both wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and cornerback Devon Witherspoon heading into the summer. In division news, the Atlanta Falcons bolstered their secondary by acquiring safety Sydney Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles, a transaction that also involved a strategic swap of fourth- and sixth-round selections in the upcoming draft. Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers opted against triggering the option bonus for veteran offensive tackle Trent Williams, signaling a preference to negotiate a new contract structure rather than commit to the existing stipulated salary.
Pre-Draft Preparations & Roster Additions
As the league shifts focus towards the draft, the Minnesota Vikings addressed offensive line needs by signing free agent Ryan Van Demark to a one-year contract, adding depth ahead of potential rookie selections. Beyond team personnel, preparations are underway in host cities, where Pittsburgh Public Schools announced a shift to remote learning for April 22-24 to facilitate the logistics and security surrounding the NFL draft's arrival in the city.
