Strategic Value Partners has named Matt Gibson as president, effective February 2027. Gibson joins the $22 billion alternative investment firm after more than 25 years at Goldman Sachs, including 16 years as a partner. He most recently led Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Global Client Business, overseeing more than 1,000 sales and product specialists.

As president, Gibson will oversee SVP's non-investment activities, including client relations and firmwide infrastructure, while helping drive longer-term strategic initiatives. He will also participate in deal sourcing in the power and infrastructure sectors, drawing on his banking background, and will sit on the firm's management and investment committees. Gibson will report to SVP founder and chief investment officer Victor Khosla.

"This is an exciting moment for SVP," said Khosla. "Matt brings experience in leading and managing significant businesses at Goldman Sachs and advising many of the world's top investors ... I am delighted to have Matt at SVP as we build the firm's next chapter." At Goldman Sachs, Gibson held roles including leading the power and infrastructure investment banking team and global co-head of investment banking client coverage. He began his career as a surface warfare officer in the US Navy.

Founded in 2001 by Victor Khosla, Strategic Value Partners has approximately $22 billion in assets under management and has invested more than $60 billion of capital since inception. The firm has more than 200 employees across offices in Greenwich, Connecticut, New York and London, with presences in Tokyo and Dubai.
