The Philadelphia Eagles placed outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard on their initial 53-man roster, a positive sign in his recovery from a pec injury. Greenard was initially placed on the physically unable to perform list in late July after suffering a pec strain during lifts before camp. Had he remained on regular season PUP, he would have missed at least four games.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio had previously expressed doubt about Greenard practicing before the season start, calling his readiness 'something to be seen.' Philadelphia acquired Greenard, 29, in an April trade with the Minnesota Vikings, sending two third-round picks for the star linebacker who then agreed to a four-year, $100 million extension with $50 million guaranteed. Greenard is expected to start for the Super Bowl-hopeful Eagles alongside Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith Jr., A. J.

Epenesa and Arnold Ebiketie. Hunt has enjoyed a strong summer. Greenard recorded three sacks in 12 games last season after back-to-back 12+ sack campaigns in Minnesota.

He spent his first four years with the Houston Texans before signing a $72 million deal with the Vikings in 2024, posting 12.5 sacks and a Pro Bowl selection before suffering a shoulder injury requiring season-ending surgery in 2025.
