MLB Opening Day Roster Finalized
Several teams confirmed key roster inclusions ahead of the season's start, showcasing veteran presence and top prospect integration. The Rangers secured veteran outfielder Andrew McCutchen, after his exceptional spring performance, where he posted a .444 batting average with three doubles and a home run. Similarly, the Mets tapped Carson Benge to start in right field following his sizzling .366 spring training showing, as manager Carlos Mendoza solidified his outfield alignment. Furthermore, the Cardinals elevated top amateur talent JJ Wetherholt, the seventh overall pick in the 2024 draft, to the Opening Day roster, signaling immediate expectations for the West Virginia product making the roster.
Pitching Staff Adjustments
In pitching news, the Detroit Tigers made significant roster moves by signing right-handed reliever Connor Seabold to a one-year split contract. This addition came as the club simultaneously placed reliever Beau Briske on the 60-day injured list, an indication of the immediate need to solidify bullpen depth following the placement.
