Formula 1 drivers criticized the Spanish Grand Prix as overtaking proved virtually impossible, with Max Verstappen stating he could not see a single opportunity. When Autosport noted many in the media center almost fell asleep during the race, Gabriel Bortoleto confirmed, 'I almost fell asleep as well!' Championship leader Kimi Antonelli echoed the sentiment, adding the circuit 'doesn't create overtaking opportunities'. Haas' Oliver Bearman, who crashed heavily in practice, said the layout 'it's quite clear that it's going to be a poor track for racing'.

Drivers cited long combined exits and entries making passing difficult and defending too easy. Williams' Alex Albon noted that if F3 cars can't overtake, F1 won't either. The drivers suggested three key areas for improvement at the Madring for 2027, starting with Turn 3 to Turn 5, proposing a redesign with straighter braking zones and removal of a chicane to enhance racing.
