Spanish spacetech startup PLD Space has secured €180 million in Series C funding, bringing total capital raised to approximately €350 million. The Elche-based company, founded in 2011, develops reusable rockets for launching small satellites and is now focused on scaling commercial operations and expanding launch capabilities.

With Mitsubishi Electric joining as both investor and strategic launch customer, PLD Space aims to strengthen its presence in Asian markets while maintaining independence in its operations. The company is constructing a spaceport in French Guiana expected to serve for the next twenty years and is doubling manufacturing capabilities. This infrastructure investment positions PLD Space to compete with established US and Asian launch providers.

PLD Space differentiates itself through vertical integration, controlling the entire rocket lifecycle from design to mission management. The company's MIURA launch vehicles transport various satellites and payloads to any orbit, with growing demand for non-US launch options. Looking ahead, the company is already developing next-generation propulsion technology while maintaining focus on reliability and scalability, positioning itself as a global launch provider rather than just a European alternative.
