Viessmann Takes Final Stake in FC Bayern

Viessmann Generations Group, the Munich-based fourth-generation family business, has agreed to take the last equity stake open to outside investors in FC Bayern München AG.

The structure is shaped by the club's articles of association, which require the members' association, FC Bayern München e V, to keep 70% of the company. After the transaction, the four minority investors will hold the remaining 30% between them, with each of the three incumbent shareholders owning just under 7.8%.

Because the deal is primary rather than secondary, the new money goes onto the club's balance sheet. Herbert Hainer, president of FC Bayern München e V and chairman of the supervisory board of FC Bayern München AG, said the investor brought "the perspective of an international, family-owned business that takes a long-term view across generations".

He added: "A further substantial strengthening of our equity base also gives us greater flexibility in a time of constant change." The move leaves the club's 70% member control intact while broadening its capital base.
