One River Asset Management has acquired LGT Capital Partners' quantitative investment unit, boosting its assets under management to approximately $3 billion. The deal adds an eight-person quant team, additional systematic strategies, and nearly $1 billion in assets to One River's portfolio.

Based in New York, One River will establish its first European presence through the Zurich-based acquisition, operating as One River Switzerland AG. The transfer is expected to conclude mid-year, though financial terms remain undisclosed. Founder Eric Peters emphasized that scale strengthens the business by bringing top talent and new strategies.

The acquisition reflects broader industry trends as alternative asset managers pursue consolidation to achieve economies of scale. Quantitative investing has gained momentum with technology advances and investor demand for consistent returns. According to BNP Paribas, quant multistrategy hedge funds delivered nearly 13% annualized returns over five years through 2025, matching the MSCI World index performance.
