GTCR has co-led a $200m second lien term loan for Sophos, the Thoma Bravo-owned cybersecurity company, in one of the first deals from the Chicago firm’s new Capital Solutions strategy. The deal follows the close of GTCR’s first Capital Solutions Fund, which makes bespoke minority structured investments in high-quality businesses. The strategy has also backed TELUS Health and Solmetex.
Jason Prager, managing director at GTCR, said: “Our ongoing dialogue with Thoma Bravo and familiarity with the sector enabled us to move quickly to address Sophos’ financing needs.” Erwin Mock, managing director and head of capital markets at Thoma Bravo, called GTCR a “constructive partner.”
Based in Oxford, with a significant operational presence in the US, Sophos serves about 625,000 customers. Its products include endpoint and network protection, as well as managed detection and response services. In February 2025, Sophos bought Secureworks.
