The Riverside Company has invested in Empty Building Security, making it the second add-on for its portfolio company Door & Window Guard Systems. No financial terms were disclosed.

Riverside is a global investment firm focused on the smaller end of the middle market. DAWGS provides door and window guards designed to secure vacant properties. EBS rents out steel panels that secure vacant properties in and around Newark, New Jersey. Its products help protect against theft, vandalism and unauthorized occupancy. Customers include property managers, banks and real estate developers.

“By joining Empty Building Security with DAWGS, we are adding depth within an important market which will enable us to better serve new and existing customers,” said Matthew Erbe, a principal at Riverside. The deal is part of Riverside’s Safety, Security, Compliance and Risk Mitigation investment thesis. Since 1988, the firm has invested in more than 40 companies in the SSCRM sector.

Erbe worked on the deal alongside co-chief investment officer Brad Roberts, principal Harrison Petts, senior associate Armando Torres and associate Love Patel. Anne Hayes, senior partner, capital markets, secured debt financing.
