Western Botanicals, a portfolio company of The Riverside Company, has invested in Yellow Emperor, a Eugene, Oregon-based liquid dietary supplement developer and manufacturer. No financial terms were disclosed. This marks Western Botanicals' first add-on acquisition.

Western Botanicals is a Utah-based manufacturer of herbal supplements. Yellow Emperor, founded in 1981, provides end-to-end services from formulation and ingredient sourcing through manufacturing, bottling, labeling and packaging. It serves approximately 70 active customers, primarily dietary supplement brands.

"Consumers keep gravitating toward vitamin, mineral, and supplement products and natural wellness solutions, creating attractive long-term growth for CDMOs with specialized capabilities," said Brad Roberts, co-chief investment officer of Riverside's Capital Appreciation strategy. "Yellow Emperor is a natural complement to Western Botanicals, deepening its liquid platform, strengthening R&D and opening new ways to serve customers." Don Shaver serves as CEO of Western Botanicals.
