Partners Group Bets on Long-Hold Yield Play in Heavy Industries

Partners Group is launching a total return strategy aimed at mature heavy industries and traditional sectors, betting that yield-focused corporate private equity has room to grow. Partner Todd Miller told PE Hub the market has white space for this type of approach, which doesn't exist in a major way today. The strategy intentionally targets longer-term investments, a shift that reflects the tight exit environment of recent years.

Miller, a global investment committee member, framed the move as a response to the tricky exit market that has forced many deals into extended hold periods. Rather than fight that trend, Partners Group is building a strategy around it, seeking assets in sectors where capital can sit for years and generate steady returns. The approach signals confidence that interest rate conditions will support income-oriented private equity positions.

The launch comes as CVC and GBL separately moved on Recordati with a take-private deal, showing European buyout firms are active in traditional sectors. For Partners Group, the new fund positions the firm to capture yield-seeking capital that has struggled to find home in today's market.
