Arete Health, backed by MBF Healthcare Partners, has acquired Virginia Rehabilitation & Wellness and Summerville Physical Therapy & Balance for Adults, expanding its outpatient physical therapy footprint. The Coral Gables, Florida-based platform company purchased both practices to extend its regional presence across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The deals bring Arete Health's network to 16 outpatient rehabilitation clinics. The platform launched in 2025 as a clinician-led operation, entering a fragmented market where private equity firms have been actively consolidating physical therapy providers. MBF Healthcare Partners, a healthcare-focused private equity firm, identified outpatient rehabilitation as a growth opportunity.

The acquisitions demonstrate continued consolidation in the physical therapy sector, where investors are betting on scaling regional platforms to compete against larger national chains. With operations now spanning two geographic regions, Arete Health gains additional leverage in payer negotiations and market positioning.
